DHU's 111 teams have been getting their hands dirty to keep their communities clean!
In an effort to make a difference within their local communities and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment, colleagues at DHU Healthcare recently organised a series of winter Community Clean-up events across their sites in the Midlands.
Building upon the success of previous clean-ups, the initiative aimed to bring colleagues together to tackle the issue of litter and waste in natural areas.
Despite the chilly January weather, the sunshined on each event, not only boosting the morale of the participants but also contributing to the overall success of the event
Ella Hancock, our 111 Engagement Officer, joined in the campaign and told us, “it has been a fantastic effort from everyone who took part in on our first winter community clean up. in the area surrounding our Orbis advice centre in Derby alone we filled nine bags in just an hour." This sentiment echoes the DHU’s commitment to environmental responsibility, showcasing the positive impact that a dedicated team can have on their surroundings.
The clean up not only received positive feedback from colleagues, but also from members of the community who were passing by with the teams during the cleanup.
111 Health Advisor Jo Shubrook, who was actively involved in the clean-up, added: "This was the first time I had taken part in a Community Clean Up and I was blown away by how much we collected in a short space of time. During our short route along the Derwent and back to the advice centre we disposed of all kinds of litter, from bottles to pom poms. It’s my hope that by removing some of this stuff we can improve the look of the area and make it a safer habitat where animals can thrive and people can enjoy.”
DHU's message is clear: by actively participating in clean-up initiatives, we are creating a brighter, cleaner future for everyone.
We are looking forward to future clean-up events and the call to action remains open for more colleagues to join these efforts and make a positive impact on the environment.
