We are looking for enthusiastic Voluntary Lay Patient Representative to join DHU and be involved in Patient and Public Involvement meetings. (every other month)

What does a Patient Representative do?

Role duties:

  • Be a proactive, enthusiastic and inclusive participant in all activities
  • To offer improvement ideas supported by their experiences as patients, parents or carers at DHU
  • To support and collaborate with DHU and our partners to build better understanding of the patients and carers lived experience
  • To help improve how DHU engages with patient advocates at all levels
  • To ensure the views of patients and carers are represented in improvement work across DHU·

As a Patient Representative you will be focused on finding positive solutions which benefit all patients.

Patient Representatives can take part in a number of different types of activities, such as:

  • Participating in surveys, focus groups, interview panels
  • Participating in working groups, steering groups and governance committees
  • Helping to deliver patient-focused training to staff
  • Co-delivering listening events for patients and the public
  • Promoting the Patient Representative role internally at DHU
  • Championing DHU Healthcare in the community
  • Helping to shape the Patient Representative role and suggesting areas for improvement. Improvement projects to shape and co-design the future of our services and improve health and healthcare with the patient at the centre.

DHU need your help to increase patient involvement and ensure that we are listening to different patient groups and communities and ensure we are measuring and sharing success for e.g through patient stories to inform improvements in services where it matters. We are keen to hear from you especially if you can demonstrate experience or passion for working with the local population, including seldom heard groups.

By representing the voice of patients, you will help improve how patient experience and meaningful involvement where you can have a real impact.

DHU provides services across the Midlands, you will represent patients in the surrounding communities of, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. Birmingham and Solihull, Black Country, Coventry and Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent .

The time commitment is likely to be approximately two hours every 2nd month as a minimum. Extra time commitment if required by DHU will be discussed with interested applicants.
