In September, Annabelle Martin, PA to the Director of Nursing & Quality, undertook the demanding Nine Edges Endurance Walk, covering an impressive 21 miles from Ladybower Reservoir to Birchen Edge in just 7 hours.

This challenging event raised £165 for the Edale Mountain Rescue Team, a critical volunteer service that operates 24/7 in the rugged Peak District National Park. The funds raised support the team's lifesaving efforts, which in 2023 saw them respond to 147 incidents, making them one of the busiest mountain rescue teams in the country.

Annabelle's motivation for the walk was deeply personal. She completed the endurance challenge in memory of her late father, who had participated in the same walk every year. "I signed up to do the endurance walk on behalf of my dad, who sadly passed away last year. My dad used to complete this walk every year," she shared, making her participation a heartfelt tribute to his memory.

DHU Healthcare proudly supports colleagues like Annabelle in their charity work within the community, encouraging them to make a positive impact. The Nine Edges Endurance Walk is a key fundraising event for the Edale Mountain Rescue Team, and Annabelle's contribution will help them continue their essential work.
