One of our Healthcare Assistants in Leicestershire has become a fully qualified Assistant Practitioner, passing her course with flying colours.
Rebecca Gardner is based at Loughborough Urgent Treatment Centre and her achievement fully demonstrates DHU Healthcare’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering career development.
Rebecca's determination and commitment were instrumental in her success, reflecting on her achievement, she said: "I am delighted to have received the opportunity to take on this degree. As an apprenticeship, it has allowed me to remain working full-time as well as studying and the support received from the DHU training team throughout has been incredible, especially as I had to take a few months break from the course. Nothing was too much trouble. I would also like to say how grateful I am for the support given by my colleagues at the Urgent Treatment Centre. They have been like a second family to me.
“The course has definitely been challenging, but my goal was always to walk away with this degree. I am excited to see what the future holds now that I have this qualification as a steppingstone into becoming a registered practitioner."
The role is a perfect example of ‘growing your own’, developing the talents of someone within the organisation to increase their skills and build on their experience. By supporting careers and building on the experience of a colleague who has already been with DHU for a number of years, the intention is that other colleagues will follow suit and we are able to keep and develop our own colleagues whilst encouraging others to join.
Zoe Hunt is DHU’s Lead Clinical and Mandatory Trainer, she added: "I would like to congratulate Rebecca on gaining a distinction in the assistant practitioner two-year foundation degree. She has now passed all of the requirements for her assistant practitioner foundation degree, including all the apprenticeship standards.
“Rebecca has been a dedicated student and has excelled both clinically and academically and has been a pleasure to work with throughout the two years. Rebecca is an asset to DHU. I would like to wish Rebecca all the best in her role as an Assistant Practitioner at the Loughborough Urgent Care Centre."
We’re proud of what Rebecca has achieved and look forward to seeing her career develop further at Loughborough Urgent Care Centre. Rebecca's journey is the perfect example of what can be achieved with dedication, encouragement and team support.
