As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2025 (10th–16th February), we are proud to shine a light on the apprenticeships that help build Skills for Life. This year, we’re highlighting Julia Hack, who joined us as an Information Governance (IG) & ISO Apprentice, bringing fresh energy and determination to the team.
Julia began her career at DHU Healthcare as a health advisor for NHS 111, a role she took on after transitioning from the hospitality industry. Reflecting on her time so far, Julia says, “I’ve always enjoyed working with others to achieve great outcomes, and I’ve found the same teamwork spirit here at DHU – just in a different way.”
Since starting her apprenticeship in June 2024, Julia has been immersed in a variety of tasks, including shadowing different teams, learning about data protection policies, and exploring workplace operations across departments like finance, communications, and clinical governance. “It’s given me the chance to connect with people from all levels of the business, from executives to frontline teams. I’ve gained insights I wouldn’t have otherwise and learned how different parts of DHU come together,” she shares.
Balancing work and study, Julia dedicates six hours weekly to her apprenticeship. She says, “The structure has been great – I get one study day a week, which helps me stay on track. I feel fully supported by my team.” Julia is currently preparing for her apprenticeship assessments, which include a project, a presentation, and a final exam.
Looking ahead, Julia is excited about a future in Information Governance. “I’ve discovered a real interest in data protection and investigating how we can prevent breaches. It’s fascinating to be part of such an important area.”
At DHU Healthcare, we’re proud to support Julia and all our apprentices as they build rewarding careers and gain essential skills for the future.
