This week we’re catching up with Saber Jbara who is a Clinical Service Lead within our Urgent Care North team.

Saber has been a loyal part of DHU for ten years, most of which has been spent working as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. Recently, he transitioned into a managerial role, overseeing urgent care services across a number of different locations, including Chesterfield, Matlock, and Bassetlaw – a more recent addition to the DHU family.

In Saber's own words, he told us "Empathy is at the heart of my management style. It's about understanding and uplifting the individuals who make up the team. For me, a happy team is a motivated team and together we can achieve excellence in healthcare." This approach reflects his holistic approach to management, acknowledging the importance of individual well-being within the team dynamic.

Saber enjoys the fact that the role represents a challenge, something he is enthused by considering it a continuous learning experience. AS a very sociable and approachable character he is always eager and ready to answer questions and offer support to his team members. "I'm here for my team," Saber states, reinforcing the personal connection he values with each team member.

His commitment to growth and development has led Saber to actively participate in the DHU Management Training programme and is part of our flourishing coaching development scheme 'Inspire.' In his own words, "I'm always looking for a new opportunity to learn and develop, and DHU has been really supportive of that as I’ve progressed throughout my time within the organisation.

“People often joke that I have no life because I’m always studying. I’ve got an obsession to read and find out more, you’ll often find me checking out the British Medical Journal before I go to bed instead of the latest novel. I'm very keen to keep up with of the latest developments in healthcare."

Despite the demands of his role, he continues to enjoy his clinical work, dedicating five hours a week to patient care, adding, "You can't really lose that patient contact. If you leave it, you lose it, and for me it is the best way to stay connected to the practical aspects of healthcare to better understand what our teams do and how they do it."

Most recently, Saber was part of the Urgent Care North Team that helped to achieve an 'Outstanding' award from the CQC (you can read more about that by clicking here). He commented: "It reflects our dedication, hard work and commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services. This recognition motivates us to continue raising the bar for quality care in our community and underlines our commitment to providing quality compassionate care to our patinets," reflecting the team's shared sense of accomplishment.

Saber brings not only a proactive and caring approach to his managerial role but a genuine commitment to the well-being and growth of his team. His journey reflects a continuous pursuit of knowledge and excellence, all with the aim of achieving the highest standards in healthcare for his colleagues and for his patients.
