This week for our regular Meet the Team article, we’re talking to Julia Hack who recently started as an Information Governance (IG) & ISO Apprentice at DHU Healthcare.
Embarking on an exciting new journey of learning and growth Julia was drawn to the Information Governance & ISO apprenticeship for the opportunity it provided to explore a completely new area of the organisation. “IG and ISO is something completely new to me, but the chance to learn and develop is what made this role so appealing,” she explains.
“Before joining this role, I worked for around three years as a health advisor within DHU’s NHS 111 service. I came from the hospitality industry and enjoyed working with others to achieve a good outcome, and I found there’s a similar sense of teamwork here at DHU, just in a different way."
"I dedicate six hours a week to my apprenticeship, where I spend time shadowing different roles, learning new tasks, and working with various teams across the business to see how they operate. The apprenticeship takes 18 months to complete and focuses on Business and Administration. It's been an incredible opportunity to gain exposure to the inner workings of DHU Healthcare,” she adds.
“In my new role as an Information Governance Apprentice, I work with the team to help ensure that data protection and confidentiality standards are met across the organisation. Working with others, I'm learning how to keep information safe while ensuring it’s handled properly. The learning curve has been steep, but I enjoy the challenge.”
Though her role isn't patient-facing, Julia believes the work she and the team do behind the scenes is crucial in improving the quality of care provided. "Even though we're not on the front lines with patients, the work we do makes a real difference," she adds.
Since starting her apprenticeship, Julia feels she’s grown both professionally and personally. “I’m building confidence every day. Everyone here is so nice and supportive—they really can’t do enough for you," she adds, appreciating the collaborative environment at DHU.
In her role, Julia continues to gain valuable experience, and she’s excited to see where this journey will take her within DHU Healthcare.
