DHU Healthcare were proud to give a cheque for £5970 to The Trussell Trust, raising funds while protecting its own colleagues from seasonal flu.

The not-for-profit, Community Interest Company that provides NHS services, has recently finished the year’s staff vaccination program, marking the occasion with the cheque presentation to The Trussell Trust, which was chosen as the charity for the 2023/24 campaign. The funds were raised as part of DHU’s initiative to donate for each colleague who received their annual flu vaccination.

Jenny Farrall-Bird, who is an Area Manager from The Trussell Trust visited DHU's head office at the Roundhouse Derby to receive the donation. She met with Victoria Searby, DHU Healthcare’s Director of Finance, who presented the cheque.

Victoria Searby said: “We are thrilled to support The Trussell Trust with this donation. It's amazing to see the difference we can make by simply encouraging our colleagues to get their annual flu vaccination. This initiative highlights how individual actions, like getting vaccinated, can collectively contribute to a significant impact in our community. Our commitment to our community goes beyond healthcare; it’s about supporting essential services that help those in need.”

Getting your flu vaccination is crucial not only for personal health but also for public safety. Vaccinations help prevent the spread of influenza, protecting the most vulnerable in our society. This act of citizenship shows how we can contribute to the greater good, ensuring healthier communities and reducing the strain on healthcare services.

Jenny Farrall-Bird added: “In the last year, food banks in the Trussell Trust network distributed 3.1 million emergency food parcels to people experiencing hardship. This demonstrates the scale of the challenge our society faces – and it’s why we’re so grateful for the generous donation from DHU Healthcare.

“We support individuals and families facing hardship each and every day, and we are thankful that you are standing alongside us, food banks, and people in financial crisis. Your generous donation will go directly towards helping communities in need and we appreciate all that you have done for us.”

This collaboration embodies DHU Healthcare’s values as a social enterprise and showcases another successful partnership with a charity dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those they serve.
