New websites, detailing opening hours, contact numbers and wide ranging health advice have been launched for three Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) GP surgeries run by DHU Healthcare.

The Practices: Thurmaston, Bowling Green Street, Heron help care for more than 14,000 patients who will now have better access to the help they need thanks to the new sites that are all now up and running.

DHU Healthcare provides 111 and Urgent and Emergency care services across the East and West midlands, including these GP practices and more, and have been working in partnership with GPSurgery.net, over recent months.

The websites have been completely updated and transformed to include key practice details such as how to register, opening hours, answers and advice to questions about common medical conditions including a wealth of useful pages and links to other NHS and health partners.

A new look

Rob Haines is DHU’s Deputy Director of Urgent and Emergency Care in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, he said: “We have done a huge amount of work to provide the best service we can to our patients and are proud that all three surgeries now have ‘Good’ ratings from the most recent Care Quality Commission inspections. We know the services are there, but we also knew that access to information about these surgeries was something we needed to address, starting with the websites.

“First and foremost, we wanted to remove access barriers for patients with disabilities, making the sites more accessible and easier to read, regardless of what device they are using. We felt the best way forward was to make sure the information is consistent across the surgeries to make it clear what we’re here for and how we can help.”

Having recently rebranded, DHU Healthcare also wanted to improve the look and feel of its Primary Care websites. It was not only an opportunity to improve the content, but also to think about and invest in the patient experience when people visit online, making it easier for visitors to find the essential services and information they require.

But it’s not just the patients that benefit. Helping patients access the information they need quickly and safely also reduces some of the administration of our receptionists, freeing them up to spend more time on other important tasks.

Transforming Primary Care

Rob added: “Over the past year the feedback from the CQC has been very good so, to build on this success, we’re rolling out a newly developed three-year transformation plan for our practices so that we can continue to deliver high quality, patient centred services.

“Our patients are at the heart of everything we do and we wanted to create an experience that meets their needs. That’s why our Practice Colleagues and the Communications Team worked hard to launch these new sites, which we hope are easier to use and more accessible for everyone.

“We’re committed to our patients and colleagues and, as an organisation, will carry on supporting and transforming our GP practices. This relaunch is just one of many improvements we have been leading on to deliver high-quality, patient centred care.”

The new websites are now live and accessible to all, there are contact details within each site and DHU Healthcare would welcome any feedback to help improve and adapt the site.
