DHU Healthcare Leads Environmental Sustainability Efforts with Tree Planting Initiative at their headquarters.
DHU Healthcare is excited to share its hands-on approach to environmental sustainability through a fresh tree planting project at its Derby head office, situated at No.2 Roundhouse.
Carol Goodwin, Head of Estates, Facilities, and Health & Safety at DHU Healthcare, said: “We are dedicated to environmental sustainability, and it drives every decision we make, shaping a future where healthcare and nature thrive in harmony. By working together, we can build a resilient future that prioritises the health of our communities and the planet."
On their journey to net zero DHU Healthcare has partnered with the NHS Forest initiative, a collaborative effort aimed at transforming green spaces to enhance health, wellbeing, and biodiversity.
Working in partnership with NHS Forest and Derbyshire gardening company Border Patrol, DHU Healthcare has planted a selection of urban tree bundles, totalling 30 trees, to improve the areas around our premises. Alongside healthcare partners across the UK, DHU Healthcare has contributed to the planting of over 26,000 trees on the NHS Estate, surpassing previous milestones.
In 2023 DHU launched its Green Plan, which serves as a roadmap for further integrating sustainability initiatives into its operations. Through initiatives such as tree planting, waste reduction, and digital investment, DHU Healthcare aims to reduce its environmental impact while championing a greener, more equitable future for all.
Carol Goodwin continued: “We recognise that there is still much work to be done in the face of climate change and will continue to lead by example in environmental sustainability. As a valued NHS partner our hope is that others will join our efforts to become a greener health care service.”
