DHU Healthcare is encouraging more people to bring books to its buildings by opening another library, this time at its Derbyshire Headquarters Office at No.2 Roundhouse in Derby.

The library, which is open to all employees, aims to promote wellbeing and learning by providing access to a wide range of books on various topics.

Adopting a book-exchange philosophy, colleagues can borrow books during opening hours whilst sharing their own favourite tomes by donating them to the collection. The library already boasts a diverse collection of books, including fiction, non-fiction, self-help and more.

Sue Davey is DHU Healthcare’s Corporate Receptionist at Roundhouse, she said: "I love reading and really believe that it can have a positive impact on our wellbeing, helping you switch off and leave work behind. I set up this new library hoping to provide a convenient and enjoyable way for everyone to access books and connect with one another over shared interests."

Sonia Gale, our Health, Wellbeing and Diversity Co-ordinator, said: “Reading is a well-known stress-reducing activity that can help people to relax and unwind after a long day at work. Engaging in reading can provide an opportunity to escape from the stresses and demands of daily life and immerse yourself in a different world. This helps individuals to feel relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed.”

"It’s worked well in other bases across DHU and we are excited to offer this new resource to our colleagues based at Roundhouse. I’m sure it will have a positive impact on our workplace culture, develop into a place where colleagues can connect and we look forward to seeing the many benefits it will bring."

DHU Healthcare is committed to promoting employee health and wellbeing, as well as supporting continuous learning and development. The launch of the new library shows our continued commitment to this and represents an exciting new addition to the company's employee engagement initiatives.
