DHU Healthcare pulled together as a team to help raise money for charity me&dee at their annual Golf Day 2024.

Held on June 28th at the picturesque Matlock Golf Club, the event brought local organisations and groups together for a day dedicated to fun, camaraderie and, most importantly, charity.

Our team, comprised of Gary Morton (Operational Shift Lead), Tom Ogilvie (Deputy Operational Shift Lead), Mark Winkley (Clinical Shift Lead) and Lee Coulson (Clinical Shift Lead), pulled out all the stops and managed to win the event by a 9-point margin.

Gary Morton, NHS 111 Operational Shift Lead from our Ashgate 111 team, led the DHU team at the tournament. He told us, "It was an incredible experience and wonderful to see everyone come together for such a worthy cause. This event highlighted the importance of communities coming together and the positive impact we can make when we work together." He added, "Three of our team were on nights straight after the all-day event, so it definitely made it a long one, but it was worth it!”

Our involvement in the me&dee Golf Day is part of DHU Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to supporting the charity that creates precious memories for families facing life-shortening or life-limiting conditions. As part of our charity partnership, we are sponsoring one 'Hope' elephant each month for two years. These soft toys, equipped with a mini voice recorder and memory notes, help families create lasting memories during challenging times.

DHU’s Director of Finance Victoria Searby added: “As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company we have recently formed our new Social Impact Committee. We hope that this group will help DHU to further support and encourage colleagues and the wider community to take part in events that showcase this and other charities. I hope that this group and our support of local initiatives reflects our dedication to improving lives in the communities we serve, strengthen our bonds with other local organisations and provide some fun for our people in the process.”

This was the first time DHU Healthcare participated in the competition, and our involvement underscored our commitment to fostering closer relationships with other organisations while making a significant difference in our communities.

We are proud to support me&dee and are grateful to all who participated and supported this event. Together, we are making a positive impact and creating cherished memories for those in need.
