DHU Healthcare has achieved the Silver Award as part of the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme.

As a not-for-profit, Community Interest Company, DHU only signed the Covenant in January this year and has since provided further evidence that it does a huge amount to recognise current and ex-servicemen and women, as well as current reservists.

The award is further vindication that DHU Healthcare wholeheartedly supports the Armed Forces community and recognises the significant value and contribution that serving personnel, past and present, contribute to its services and the wider community.

Zahra Leggatt is DHU’s Director of People and Organisational Development, she said: “I was so proud to read the testimonials from Veterans and Reservists in our employment about how much it means to them that DHU is committed to being a Defence positive organisation.

“The Silver Award is recognition of our commitment and means a lot to us. It will enable us to attract and recruit more former military personnel and Reservists and enhance our workforce with the skills and attributes they provide.

“We have done a great deal of work making sure that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, feel respected, supported and valued. We are fortunate enough to have a number of former servicemen and women working for us here, may of whom have featured prominently in articles and features to showcase how the skills they have learnt have become an essential part of DHU’s services and how we provide patient care.

“It was a fantastic evening and wonderful to find out more about how other organisations support their teams. We are already working towards the Gold Award so that we can build on the work we have already achieved to further enhance our reputation as a Forces Friendly organisation.”
