DHU Healthcare is proud to celebrate the success of five colleagues who are nearing the completion of their postgraduate certificate in urgent care.

The Inegrted Urgent Care (IUC) programme at Derby University reflects DHU’s commitment to the continuous support of colleagues looking to improve their career development and aspirations.

The journey for these students has been rigorous yet rewarding, completing their leadership presentation assessments and now face their final assignment. A formal ‘celebration event’ was recently held at Derby University to mark this significant milestone as it celebrated the achievements of the first cohort of IUC programme students. It also provided an opportunity for participants to share their learning and ideas for advancing IUC practice.

Daniel Graham, Head of Pharmacy at DHU Healthcare and a graduate of Derby University’s Advanced Clinical Practice programme told us he's proud of them. saying: “At DHU, we believe in nurturing talent and promoting professional growth. The IUC programme is a testament to this ethos, equipping our practitioners with the skills and confidence needed to excel in urgent care settings. It’s inspiring to see our colleagues embrace these opportunities and push boundaries within their roles. Their dedication and progress are truly commendable.”

During the celebration event, discussions included academic and practice progression, insights into core advanced practice presented by Dr. Rachel Lewis from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, and student Q&A sessions. These activities not only highlighted the students’ accomplishments but also offered a platform to explore advanced credentialing as a potential next step. DHU colleagues in attendance also listened to and provided feedback on the students' leadership presentations, which focused on areas like quality improvement within the NHS111 service.

One of the students, Fabrianne Osborne, a prescribing pharmacist at DHU, reflected on her experience: “The course has given me more confidence and knowledge, broadening my scope of practice. I’ve had the opportunity to grow within my role over the past two years at DHU, and my goal is to continue learning and ultimately become an advanced pharmacist practitioner.”

DHU Healthcare has partnered with the University of Derby for several years to support colleagues in completing the IUC programme. This collaboration underscores our dedication to enabling professional development and advancing healthcare practices.

As the students prepare to complete their final modules, we celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing their continued contributions to urgent care excellence.
