DHU Healthcare colleague Jade Ford (Walton), a dedicated Health Advisor within the NHS111 service, recently made a remarkable decision to support an incredible cause. As one of our Charity Champions, Jade demonstrates citizenship beyond her professional duties, showcasing her compassion and generosity.

Jade's selfless act involved a sacrifice— having her  much loved long hair cut. On Thursday, February 8th, she bravely parted with a huge 15 inches of her locks after initially only planning 12 inches, all in aid of The Little Princess Trust.

Reflecting on her decision, Jade shared, "This year I have decided to donate my hair to Little Princess Trust to help a child have the gift of a real hair wig who has lost their hair. Many of you who know me, know that I love having my hair long, it’s like a safety blanket, but I’d love to be able to help a child get a real hair wig, maybe it was their safety blanket."

Her motivation comes from a deeply personal place, as she remembers her beloved Nanan, who passed away on February 4th, 2014, due to cancer. "My Nanan was the kindest, most caring and giving person I knew," Jade fondly recalled. "She inspired me growing up... Unfortunately, she never got to meet my children or see me open a baking business, but I know she would be proud."

Jade's commitment to her cause extends beyond her haircut. She organised charity bake sales, offering treats to her local community, with all proceeds dedicated to The Little Princess Trust.
