This July, Mel (Health Advisor NHS 111) is taking on a deeply personal challenge, bringing together three generations of her family to raise money for cancer research.
A shared challenge
On Sunday 5 July, Mel will take part in the Race for Life alongside her mum, Angela, and her 10-year-old son, Anesu Jnr.
For Mel and her mum, the event is about more than completing the 5K distance. Both live with chronic health conditions, meaning every step will require additional determination and resilience.
Mel said: “This walk is more than just a physical challenge for us. Both my mum and I live with chronic health conditions, so every mile takes extra determination. We’re doing this to show Anesu that even when your own health is a struggle, you can still find the strength to help others and support a cause that matters.”
Mel and her family are taking part in honour and support of loved ones affected by cancer, remembering Joe and Colin, standing alongside Matt, Margaret, Karen, Angie and Chris, and recognising a close neighbour currently undergoing treatment. Through their efforts, they are raising funds for Cancer Research UK, helping to support vital research and improve outcomes for patients and families.
