This month, we're shining a spotlight on colleague Paige, who has been walking 70 miles throughout June to raise money for Bliss, a charity that supports babies born premature or unwell and the families who care for them.

Paige took on the challenge following her own family's experience when her son, Otis, arrived much earlier than expected and spent time in neonatal care.

Reflecting on the last year, Paige shared: "One year ago today, our little boy entered the world far earlier than expected and completely changed ours forever. This past year has held some of the hardest, scariest and most emotional moments of our lives, but also some of the most meaningful.

"Watching him grow, fight, smile, learn and simply be here has completely changed the way I look at life. I don't think you ever fully understand strength, perspective or gratitude until you watch your child overcome things they should never have had to face. There were moments last year where the future felt incredibly uncertain. Now somehow it's his first birthday.

"To the healthcare professionals who cared for him, the charities who supported families like ours, and every single person who checked in on us during the difficult moments - thank you will never feel enough.

"To my workplace, DHU Healthcare - thank you for all your support, from checking in on us in the early days to supporting my transition back to work recently. The support has been amazing and my team are just so wonderful.

"And to our little boy: you will never fully understand how deeply loved you were before you were even old enough to know what was happening. Happy 1st Birthday, Otis."

Paige's challenge is a way of giving back to the charity that supported families like hers during one of the most difficult periods of their lives, while helping to ensure other parents facing similar experiences can access the support they need.

A huge thank you and congratulations to Paige for turning such a personal experience into an opportunity to support others.
