DHU’s Palliative Care Urgent Response Service (PCURS) has been shortlisted for another national care award.
A year after winning it, they are finalists again in the End-of-Life category of this year’s Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, celebrating outstanding work across the UK’s not-for-profit care sector.
The shortlisting recognises the collaboration between DHU’s PCURS and Community Virtual Ward teams, in creating a Palliative Care Virtual Ward for patients and families to be supported at home. The service provides ongoing support, treatment and symptom management for patients and carers. It also makes referrals to other services and provides wraparound support until more substantive care can be provided.

Now in its 12th year, the awards are organised by Care Management Matters (CMM) in partnership with the National Care Forum, recognising the dedication, innovation and positive impact in care services supporting children and adults.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Town Hall Birmingham on Friday 17 April, bringing together leaders from health and social care nationwide.
