In this Wednesday’s #WDYD we speak to Adina, who is part of our NHS111 training team, and has worked at DHU for 4 years.
Before joining us, Adina worked in finance related roles including mortgage advising, going on to work for an online pharmacy in their Business and Finance department.
Adina said: “The online pharmacy closed down which is when I applied for a role at DHU in 2018 as an Admin Assistant – I then joined the Resource and Planning team in 2019 where I stayed for around a year and a half before becoming a part of the training team. I only intended to stay at DHU for a few months as my plan was to go back into finance but I’m clearly enjoying it at DHU as 4 years later, here I am!
“Along the way I have done a lot of work within HR and recruitment. When we moved into our new premises for NHS111 - I was covering reception for 4 months in the Orbis Building which I still occasionally cover in the event of absences or Annual Leave.
“So what do I do now? Well, my duties include setting up new starters on Injixo, mapping out their Launchpad shifts and uploading their classroom training and Launchpad shifts onto Injixo. I also handle external training which we offer to staff such as, to give an example, over an eight month period we arrange for staff to take part in a Mental Health Training course through Derby College. I make sure all staff involved are booked in for the latest Version Update of training and update their records on PLMS for any training they have completed. There’s lots more to my role but these are the ones that keep me on my feet!
“A typical day in my role can be quite busy with the number of new Health Advisors and Service Advisors that we have coming through. There is never a dull moment and I’ve always got work to do!
“I work with the most amazing team who are very supportive which helps to make my job that little bit easier. My proudest moment is having the opportunity to work with so many different people within DHU; I have gained so much experience and learned from some great people. I have developed skills that I’m sure will put me in good stead the future.
“Outside of work I have an online Cake and Dessert business that helps me to unwind and forget about the everyday busy workload! If I were to give anyone any advice, it would be to live every moment and create amazing memories to look back on. Enjoy life and be happy, don’t let anyone dull your sparkle!
