DHU Healthcare has been awarded the Level 2 Disability Confident Employer Accreditation.
Just a few weeks after achieving Menopause Friendly Accreditation, it’s another accolade that underlines DHU’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
The government backed accreditation recognises employers who actively recruit, support and develop people living with a disability or long term health condition, through supporting working adjustments, engaging with staff to identify individual needs, promoting equal opportunities, challenging stigma and removing barriers.
Jay Rai is DHU’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Lead, she told us: “This is more than just a badge, it’s a reflection of our commitment to create an environment where all colleagues feel safe to be themselves, be open about their ambitions, supported to thrive and empowered to progress with us.
“We’ve been looking closely at what we do for our employees and what we should be doing for our people, engaging with our Disability and Neurodiversity Network to ensure this good work is embedded in everything we do. We’re delighted to be able to prove to those working with or aspiring to join us, that we look after our people and provide a platform for them to develop a career with us at DHU.
“We have a reputation for providing quality compassionate care through our 111, primary, urgent, emergency and community care services. We’re there for our patients but we want to be able to say we’re there for our people who provide that care as well.”
Work has already begun towards the next steps which is to achieve Level 3, Disability Confident Leader accreditation, strengthening career development with us further, embedding inclusive leadership and sharing best practice internally.
