The deadline for entering the nursing profession’s top awards has been extended until 7 February.
The RCNi Nurse Awards 2020 offer nurses, nursing students and nursing support workers throughout the UK the opportunity to share their innovations and expertise.
By entering, individuals can boost the profile of their project or work and highlight its impact on patient care and outcomes, while managers can show how much they appreciate individual nurses or teams by nominating them.
This year’s celebration of nursing excellence is especially significant, as it takes place in the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
Entries are open to individuals and teams in 12 categories (listed below) covering the diversity of nursing. They include the coveted Patient’s Choice Award, which sees patients or their family nominate a nurse, health visitor or nursing support worker who has made a real difference to their lives.
The RCN Nurse of the Year 2020 will be chosen from the category winners, all of which will be announced at a ceremony in London on 8 July.
RCN vice-president and chair of judges Yvonne Coghill says: ‘The RCNi Nurse Awards are the perfect opportunity to shout loud and proud about the work that nurses do day in, day out and the extraordinary difference their efforts make to the people they support and care for.
‘Nurses often think they are just doing their job, but it is important to highlight their commitment to their patients, especially in the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
‘And if nurses share their practice through these awards, others can learn from their successes and more patients will see the benefit.’
Entries must be submitted by Friday 7 February at rcni.com/nurse-awards
