DHU Star Climbs Ev’ry Mountain For Charity

Patient Records Administrator completes challenge for premature baby charity

The 30 strong team, including DHU’s very own Patient Records Administrator Ryan Fellows, gave it their all to successfully scale three summits within 24 hours, raising funds for the Little Stars Charity.

The Three Peaks Challenge sees climbers taking on peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), Wales (Snowdon) and England (Scarfell Pike). Not only do the climbers have to walk 23 miles, they also have to drive 460 miles between each summit to complete the challenge within 24 hours.

After a well-deserved rest, Ryan spoke about the event, saying: “Such an amazing 24 hrs doing this. 100% something I will never forget. It physically pushed us to our limits (& mentally). Exhausted, lots of emotions and injuries but everyone gave it their all and smashed it. The sense of achievement and satisfaction was definitely worth all the effort. More importantly we have exceeded our 10k target for the Little Stars charity”

This will be one of my favourite memories. The pain, the people and the places. I cannot believe that we made it in 20 hours and 43 minutes. Running down the mountains cheering all the other groups on and having them cheer you on must be one of the best feelings. Once I got to the bottom of Snowdon I just wanted to do it all over again.”

DHU Health Care was one of the sponsors of the team who took on the challenge, supporting them after Ryan reached out for help on the adventure. Ryan managed the challenge in a respectable 20 hours and 43 minutes and returned safely in one piece.

Donations are still being taken, but currently the Little Stars fundraiser has raised over fantastic 14k.

Little Stars charity was established by Melbourne couple Alison and Alan Staley whose daughter Lyra was born premature after 24 weeks and sadly passed away shortly afterwards. They are currently raising 15k for NICU and fetal medicine for Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity with the aim of helping poorly babies and their families.

  1. I am so proud of my son Ryan and everyone else who took part. That having been up Snowdon in the army to achieve what they did to do all 3 Peaks in the time they did must be all very happy to have achieved such a challenge and the money they have received for the charity Little Stars makes everything so worthwhile. Thanks Paul Fellows.
