Staff across the East Midlands are joining NHS 72nd birthday celebrations this weekend. DHU Health Care, who provide urgent care and NHS 111 services across the region, is encouraging staff to get involved with special messages and heartfelt thanks.
Messages of thanks are being sent both to staff for their exceptional efforts over recent months and, in turn, to those who have shown an outpouring of support for DHU Health Care with practical help, donations and kind words.
Staff will also join in a final pause for applause at 5pm on Sunday 5th.
As a provider of frontline services for the NHS, DHU Health Care has been heavily impacted by Covid-19. But despite the challenges the organisation has faced they have seen some incredible displays of resilience and courage from colleagues. The weekend is an opportunity to not only say thank you and celebrate, but also to remember those they have lost.
Stephen Bateman, Chief Executive of DHU, commented, “On 5 July we celebrate 72 years of the NHS. However, this year’s birthday is very different to those we have marked in the past, as we all face the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
“I therefore feel that it is more important than ever to use this NHS birthday to say a massive THANK YOU to all our staff who have worked so hard over the past 12 months, and have risen to the added challenges 2020 has brought. You make us all very proud. I also want to pay tribute once again to the three members of staff we have lost to Covid-19 during this time”
All DHU Heath Care staff are being given a gift voucher as a further token of the organisation’s appreciation for their outstanding commitment throughout the last few months, when staff have been supporting the NHS on the frontline of fighting this coronavirus pandemic.
