On December 4 at Ashgate Manor, Chesterfield, DHU Health Care held a Christmas Fayre with proceeds going to Ashgate Hospice.
Visitors were entertained by a selection of arts and craft stores, Heena designs, cakes, a tombola and Santa’s grotto.
As part of the event, which was arranged by Karen Byfleet (Health Advisor, DHU 111), a raffle is being run all week with proceeds going to Ashgate Hospice. A majority of the stalls were run by DHU staff who took time out from their busy schedules to support the event.
Karen Byfleet said: “We had such a positive response to the Christmas Fayre and everyone came together throughout the day to raise some money for a good cause.”
Ashgate Hospice run a 21 bed Inpatient Unit, 16 place Day Hospice with a range of therapy and support services on site. All their services are provided free of charge to patients with any life-limiting illness and extends their support to patients’ families throughout these tough times.
Sarah Green, Community Fundraiser for Ashgate Hospice, said “Ashgate Hospice is the hospice for North Derbyshire and we care for all adults with life limiting illnesses. We are fundraising to make sure we can continue that service. We don’t get any funding from the NHS service, it’s just a small grant from the CQC compared to how much our running costs are.
“Events like this are amazing, it’s great to see the community coming out and doing things. It’s fantastic.”
The DHU would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make yesterday’s Christmas Fayre at Ashgate Manor a success. Whether you held a stall, donated prizes, helped out setting up, or came along and joined the fun.
